Coffee and maple may not seem like an obvious combination, but trust us, it's a match made in heaven. These Coffee-Maple Pecan Scones are a delicious way to start your day, or enjoy as a sweet treat with your afternoon coffee. They can give you the perfect caffeine boost too!
The scones are made with a simple dough that's infused with instant coffee granules, giving them a rich coffee flavor. The maple syrup adds a touch of sweetness and a hint of maple flavor, while the chopped pecans give them a nice crunch. The recipe is super easy to follow and takes only 30 minutes. So how do you make it?
Ingredients:
- 2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp of baking powder
- 1/4 tsp of salt
- 1/4 cup of cold butter, cut into small pieces
- 1/4 cup of chopped pecans
- 1/4 cup of instant coffee granules
- 1/4 cup of maple syrup
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions:
-
Preheat your oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add the cold butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Stir in the chopped pecans, instant coffee granules, and maple syrup. Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring until a dough forms.
-
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead it until it comes together. Pat the dough into a circle about 3/4 inch thick. Using a sharp knife, cut the dough into 8 wedges.
-
Place the scones on the prepared baking sheet, brush the tops with the beaten egg and bake for about 18-20 minutes or until golden brown.
-
Let the scones cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before serving. You can serve them warm or at room temperature, with butter or additional maple syrup, if desired.
